Church Music by David Crowder Band

"...a God-honoring, worship experience in a world filled with 'love saturated' and 'sugar coated' fluff music."
Here is
another case of a reviewer knowing of, but not having listened to a band
until being asked to review them. In this case the band is the David Crowder
Band and the CD is “Church Music.” Suffice it to say, it was
the worth the wait. Now I need to get caught up with all of their past
efforts.
Their music is definitely innovative with poignant lyrics. This aids in creating
a worship environment that beckons each Christ-follower to fully participate
in honoring God Almighty.
The transition between each track is smooth and seamless, giving the album
a “live” feel. The mere fact that they maintain this consistency
for seventy-four minutes with 17 full tracks is an accomplishment unheard
of up to this point. Some insiders have already begun calling “Church
Music” a landmark record in the history of Christian music.
Watching the cameo appearance of David in “The David Crowder Church
Music Intro” on YouTube will definitely bring a huge smile to your
face. It portrays a lighter side of the front man as well as their motivation
behind producing this album.
In “Shadows,” track 4, the lyrics of the chorus, “We will
not fear, we will remember” is a reminder that when darkness overwhelms
us to face the cross and Christ’s completed work.
You will, without any doubt, be on your feet as the techno, groove-driven
sound of “Church Music (Dance)” is cranked up.
You’ll find yourself yearning to express praise to the One Who is worthy
as you soak in the strains of “We Are Loved” and “O, How
He Loves.”
The listening pleasure of this CD is the direct result of the rhythmic, eclectic
undercurrents which support the passionate vocals along with the original
and biblically solid lyrics. “Church Music” is a God-honoring, worship experience in a world filled
with “love saturated” and “sugar coated” fluff music.
