"Robert J. Morgan has changed my attitude about the importance of memorizing Bible verses."
I’m thankful
for the review copy of a book that has helped me in the way I think about
many things.
I read parts of the book by myself and
felt compelled to share this with my family at the dinner table. I read
the Scripture passages in the book and why the author felt it was important
to commit this verse to memory. Robert Morgan starts out talking about
the importance of memorizing Scripture.
He says it’s easy, and anyone can do it! Robert also mentions that
we are what we think we are. When we memorize Scripture, “It allows
God's words to sink into your brain and permeate your subconscious thoughts
it saturates the personality, satiates the soul, and stockpiles the mind.”
Morgan talks about the “fantastic four” and why we should
memorize them first. Gen 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens
and the earth.”
The author says, “Scripture begins with these ten words. This is
the bedrock of the Bible, the first, earliest and most irreducible foundation
for the remaining thirty-one thousand verses of God’s word. Gen 1:1
encompasses the totality of truth. Without it there’s nothing but
despair. With it there’s everything we need.”
I love the fact the author gives the reader a reason why they should commit
the quoted passage to memory. Robert Morgan also describes the impact memorizing
each passage will have on a person's thinking and their view life, their
health and emotions. At the end of each chapter there is a quote from a
famous person on how the passage affected their lives.
I didn’t grow up in church so I did not participate in Bible drills
and memory games. This book gave me the keys to help me memorize Scripture,
and the benefits I can have if I follow the author’s advice on what
to commit to memory. Robert Morgan also shows the reader why they should
spend time memorizing Scriptures and why it’s also important in putting
roots to their faith.
I never looked at memorizing Scripture like this before. This also was
a great devotion for my family. I was surprised at how many Bible verses
we already knew by heart! The title says 100 bible verses-everyone should
know by heart! I totally agree with him. Robert J. Morgan has changed my
attitude about the importance of memorizing Bible verses. He showed me
that by hiding the Word in your heart and soul it affects the way I live
life. I highly recommend this book for a good devotional and a tool in
teaching you how to memorize scripture!
