"To see life through the passionate eyes of Amy Gaither Hayes is to be touched by one whose heart is attuned to the voice and spirit of the Almighty."
Wednesday mornings were a sacred space for the author to ponder and contemplate the often random bits and pieces of her life. She was intentional about spending time in solitude and quietness and the end result was A Collection of Wednesdays. Her highly personal insights into the Creator’s heart and ways are poignant, yet provocative; they are simple, yet profound!
Through story, poetry, and song lyrics, Amy interweaves moments of reflection with outbursts of laughter. You will be stirred to set aside a consistent quiet time with the great “I AM.” Your soul will be warmed and your smile stretched as you read and reflect.
I was drawn to her words, not
necessarily because of her parent’s
name and legacy, but because Amy reveals authentic and transparent Spirit-given
truths in her musings. Her chapter titles: calling, passion, rest, church,
and music amongst others offer fresh, uplifting glimpses of how our souls
are put together.
My favorite Amy quotes on:
Music ---- “My mother says that music is often how people can hear
truth when other paths are closed - sort of a new way in ... Donna Schaper
says that music, for many people, is the ladder to God. Perhaps that's
why it was important for me to discover what my music is . . . ‘God
has given me a new song,’ Scripture says, and I strain to catch the
notes that He sings for my ear only . . .”
Belief ---- “Mystery is reality. Car headlights illuminate only the
road directly in front of me, a limitation that doesn’t prevent me
from driving all the way home. I am becoming more and more comfortable
with my lack of certainty and vision, which means I’m becoming either
lazier or more childlike.”
Wisdom --- “. . . In short, they have developed a sense of balance,
which might be the best definition of wisdom. All things in balance is
the opposite of the bloated excess that is foolishness.”
A Collection of
Wednesdays is
much more than a daily devotional book. Much more than a celebrity’s
wacked-out opinion on anything and everything. To see life through the
passionate eyes of Amy Gaither Hayes is to be touched
by one whose heart is attuned to the voice and spirit of the Almighty.
