"...a good story about a woman trying to help others, with a bit of suspense and romance woven in."

A kind-hearted women risks losing all she owns to help others.

Katie Addison has a passion for hot lattes, abandoned animals, and abused women. She’s opened her Wyoming ranch home as a shelter for battered women, but may have to close her doors because of financial troubles. When a high-profile senator seeks a place to hide from her abusive husband until election time, Katie’s problems escalate. Strange phone calls and noise in the night leave her and the other women tired and on-edge.

And then there’s Katie’s love life—or lack thereof. Warren Tate, a lonely geek she befriended in school, has returned home. He’s now a successful businessman, and the ugly duckling has turned into a handsome man. When Warren shows an interest in dating Katie, she can’t help wondering if he’s the man she’s been waiting for all these years. But his attitude toward the shelter’s women baffles her, and his nagging her to close the shelter frustrates her. And then there’s Ben O’Keefe, the town’s sheriff, a man Katie also went to school with. Ben’s made it clear that he cares for Katie. He’s been a good friend who’s always there when she needs him, but he doesn’t tug at her heart strings.

When trouble escalates and her financial woes become a mountain she can’t climb, Katie knows she must make a tough decision. But what about the two men in her life? Could she lose them both because of her troubles?

Now and Always is the story of a latte-loving woman with a big heart. Katie always puts others above her own needs. She welcomes abused women into her secluded ranch home with open arms, but she is totally inept when it comes to handling finances. She’s close to losing the ranch she inherited from her grandfather, because of her generosity. Katie is kind and loving, but seems naïve and overly trusting when it comes to men. Readers may get a bit tired of her waffling over Ben and Warren and whether she should close the shelter or keep it open. Though a Christian, Katie doesn’t call on God much and tries to work out things on her own—until she reaches a point where that’s impossible. Lori Copeland is a prolific author with many wonderful books out, but Now and Always isn’t as engaging as some of the others. It is, however, a good story about a woman trying to help others, with a bit of suspense and romance woven in.
