Every Labor
Day weekend for the past four years, over 20,000 Christian music fans navigate
their way to the middle of nowhere New Jersey where the beautiful Revelation
Farms sits on 140 lush acres. On
your
way through the gates, you might be greeted by the whinny of a Saddlbred
Horse curious why everyone's so interested in their home. This year
the animals were serenaded on three stages by the likes of Newsboys, Sixpence
None the Richer, Flyleaf, Skillet, Tobymac, Norma Jean, and The Devil Wears
Prada.
Friday night things kicked off with Leeland, Mandisa & Chris Tomlin then
started right up again early Saturday where we were also treated to BMX
and skateboarding demonstrations from Boarders for Christ, and challenging
speakers like Stephen Baldwin & Justin Lookadoo.
A special treat was the concert Sixpence None the Richer gave. Not that
long ago they officially broke up, but as Leigh Nash explained to us, they
missed making music together so much they've now re-uninted. Fresh off
a tour in Europe, the band is set to release a new album later this year.
They played one song off this new album (Leigh wrote it about her father
who passed away last November), and it's just as good as everything we
knew and loved about the band. In
the
middle
of
the
set,
a small plane
flew in front of the stage letting off a long stream of colored smoke.
In Leigh's words, it was sweet!

Tobymac performed with all his usual high-energy, and the Diverse City
band was totally amazing, as usual. Newsboys also were at their prime.
The set was the same as on the Go tour, but you never tire from seeing
Duncan Phillips on those spinning drums, and the confetti shooting out
on the crowd is a fun touch. Amusingly, the it rained on the band
and stage just as much as it did on the crowd this time.
Throughout
the event countless vendors sold food, t-shirts, cds and everything you
could possibly want
at a festival of this kind. Think of it as a mini Creation
--- and you don't have to walk miles to get where you're going! Revelation
Generation is fast becoming one of the Northeast's premier concert events.
Mark you calendars for next year.
